The difference today is that men push for woman in those contests to wear skimpy bikinis and show their bodies more.

We need men hot contests for hot men to pose with speedos so its fair

It would be useful if you'd put it in context by saying what time frame they're actually from. But, if I had to guess based on the hair styles, that would be the 1920s.
