Athlete Caster Semenya - man or woman? (20 pics)Caster Semenya is a South African middle-distance runner who won the 800 m at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games. She won gold in the 800 m at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in the final setting a new world record. Just right after the race, the rumours sprang that she is not a girl but a guy. The International Association of Athletics Federations conducted a gender verification test in the weeks before awarding Semenya the medal. Semenya states she was unconcerned about the test and rumours and considered boycotting the medal ceremony as a result. The IAAF explained that it does not suspect deliberate cheating but wants to determine if Semenya has a "rare medical condition" which gives her an unfair advantage.
