The correct spelling of the racer's name is Quinten Kight (pronounced "Kite") and he is 24 years old (the original article said he was 32, no clue where they got that.) Quinten inherited his need for speed from his father (my brother), Willie Kight, Jr., and I am very proud of them both.
There are many classes of boats out there, and this boat did NOT have a protective capsule that encloses the driver. So, you can imagine that my family is counting our blessings that my nephew lived through the accident with just a crushed right knee and several broken ribs.
Quinten is a GREAT guy, a hard worker, and was home after his first tour in Iraq. Had he not been home, my brother would have been driving the boat.
Again, my family certainly was counting our blessings this Thanksgiving.
