Burj Khalifa, formerly known as Burj Dubai, is a skyscraper in Dubai, UAE, and the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m (2,717 ft).
I’m sure all of you have seen some pics during the past years as the construction began on September 2004, but the famous tallest building in the world officially opened on 4 January 2010, and so, there’re new things to see..
We will see a bit of everything in this post, from the building itself to the opening ceremony that occurred recently. We’ll also take a look on photos of the construction, photos taken from different heights of the building, photos of the fountains and we won’t miss the world record of base jumping that has been established few days ago.
And don’t forget to watch the videos at the end of the post..

One girl from South Korea decided to “adjust” her face a little bit by going under the knife.
You will see the process of transformation inside the post. Looking at these photos makes me somehow uncomfortable, so it is very true: one must suffer to be beautiful ;)
2 geologists have rescued two young deer which were stuck on the middle of a frozen lake.
A very good deed that saved the lives of those two poor creatures.

Ok, there’s a good chance it’s just a bunch of girls posing stuck with ‘their’ cars in the snow ‘cause there’re too many pretty girls in skirts and high heels driving more or less expensive cars in the middle of nowhere to be true situations, but who knows…
Anyway, it’s not less pleasant to see…
Hwacheon County is home to an ice fishing festival in which thousands of competitors try to catch as many wild trouts as possible. This takes place in the Hwacheoncheon (stream) during nearly the entire month of January. The festival organizers claim there are roughly 1,000,000 visitors annually.
A small but excellent selection of exciting photos in the style of "stop a moment."
It is breathtakingly beautiful; fire and smoke are just fascinating! A must see post.
Pigs are awesome!
If you don’t believe me, check this entry.. ))
South Korea conducts annual winter exercises. More than 200 soldiers a month have received special military training.
Soldiers had a lot of things to go through, because these were truly Spartan conditions.
Annually, MAD club organizes the New Year charity race called Hoar Cross Downhill Soap Box. The race is run over a 1.25 mile course downhill, so all who want to participate in the race come here every time as well as thousands of visitors because the most unthinkable carts are involved in the competition.
Yep, you can even do creative stuff with pencils!

This interesting and rather unusual residential complex was built in China.
The building consists of a set of blocks which are shifted by 2 meters horizontally. It was designed to gain additional space that was used for the construction of terraces.
As for me, it looks something like a LEGO building, only in real life.

All the cars you will see in this post crashed in 2009 and the least expensive one costs $165,000!!
Lots of bad luck or bad drivers, you choose…
Anyway, lots of wrecked supercars await you inside the post.
Let’s see in one big picture some interesting facts and numbers depicting what occurred in 10 years, from 1999 to 2009.

Be careful in China if you park your car where you shouldn’t or you may suffer from a painful revenge like this one.. ))
Harbin, north-eastern China, is hosting its 26th international ice and snow sculpture festival.
This event is very unique and spectacular, especially during night with all the lights and colors.
Massive buildings have been carved from ice like palaces, pagodas… and even a sphinx!
Very amazing..
