Cant believe we're in 2010 and people still so ignorant to believe in God... study more, travel more and be wise, enough to believe on yourself and the people around you, dont have to look to the sky to beleive in something that doesnt exist.. so sad that people believe in religion, when this is the sickness of the world. belay

I'm glad that all three of you pointed this out before me. Makes me feel not so alone. Sometimes in the rural part of America, it's easy to feel like the only atheist out there. It is sad that these people need this in their lives to feel complete. I understand wishing that there was more, but this is just foolishness. Don't believe me? check out (Evilbible dot com)

I'm pretty certain I saw some sinners there.
See: Deuteronomy 22:11

I'd love to see more people reading the bible cover to cover.
I'm yet to meet a rational person that didn't come out an nonbeliever after reading it.
Modern Christianity relies upon people being spoon fed, only the nice passages.

I'm an agnostic, and so are a lot of people, so why post this? because some people are believers of this religion.

And for the people above me, just because you don't believe in something doesn't mean you have to mock their religion.

You're just as bad as christians. But i'm sure you dont care.

You're just proving the point of the video and the program. I am not ashamed of the Gospel. You're entitled to your opinions, and I'm not going to try to convert you in three sentences. But I have read the Bible cover to cover. I am also a rational person. I would consider myself an intelligent person; I have a Bachelor's degree. I was not spoonfed religion; I was taught Law and Gospel equally. I have experienced a lot of suffering and loss in my life, and yet, I trust wholly in the assurance of God's love. Therefore, I am not ashamed.

@Kick a Horse Day, if the person next to you on the bus tells you that he has conversations with God do you move towards him, or away from him?
You're quick to judge who is hypocrytical.

@klere
My mistake, by rational I meant someone able to question their own beliefs.
Being educated doesn't make you rational.
I used to think a lot of things were pretty clear cut - drugs, homosexuality, death sentence etc, and believed a lot of conspiracies.
My deconversion was a side effect of a much bigger process of examining what I thought I knew about the world.

I'm sad to see this on here. The day when all humans realise that we no longer need imaginary friends to tell us what to do is the day we can call ourselves enlightened.

Two hands working accomplish more than a million hands praying.

@Tim the Enchanter Im with you.

My point: Im a well educated person, (I speak English, french, german, italian, japanesse and I'm from Euskal Herria so I speak also Euskera and spanish) this is not a competition of who have more wisdom than other. This is a conversation about recognise that religion in this world just create separations, and hate. Religion is just some way to keep us calm down while some priests are raping kids or making himself more rich... soo hipocrit.

Nickk, I would say "thanks but I'm not interested."
I did that with my christian friends. After that, they didn't bother me after that, and we are all still great friends.
Would it really annoy anyone that much that they would hate Christians, go on the internet and whine how much all religion suck (something like that)?
Every time I go on the net, there's always someone bashing religion, usually Christianity. IT GETS ANNOYING. I don't agree with their views, but boy, they are less annoying then a lot of you religion bashers.

The problem with a topic like religion is that nearly everyone gets very emotionally involved in the debate. Whether you are an atheist or a believer, it is part of your identity and people defend their beliefs intensely because of that. This high level of emotional intensity makes it very difficult to have any meaningful debate. Something else that often happens (and has been displayed right here) is that people use insulting language to describe those who think and believe differently than they do. Most everyone here in this thread has espoused atheism or an anti-religious philosophy, but some religious people also resort to name-calling and insults. If any of you truly wish to speak with someone about this issue with the hope of acutally learing something or perhaps seeing things from a different perspective than that of your own, check your emotions and commit yourself to finding someone from the other side to talk to without letting your feelings and insecurities get the best of you.

Another thing about religion that I would like to say is that while it is true that much abuse has been done under the guise of religion, the same can be said about many roles or institutions. Parents, teachers, police officers, and politicians are all examples of people who because of their position wield enormous influence and therefore, power. Each of these positions have also been used by countless people to abuse others and garner more power and wealth for themselves. Yet we rarely hear anyone suggest that we should do away with parenthood, politics, formal education, or law enforcement. However, that is the answer, according to so many, for religion. Many have deemed it harmful and therefore it should be abolished. Rarely does anyone give credit to people of faith for the good that they have done. I won't take the space to discuss examples, though they are numerous, and you all know it, though you may deny it. The idea that we should abolish religion because some have used religious roles for selfish gain is ridiculous. It is human nature that causes these problems, not religion. Go ahead and abolish religion, if you can. What you will find is that the people who would have used religion as a vehicle to use and abuse others will simply find another one.
