Here is an interesting project that was made by photographer John Sevigny. It is called Ladies’ Bar. And it’s the product of more than 10 months of photography work. John visited some of the roughest cantinas in Guadalajara (Mexico) that are popular among criminals and drug addicts. The project shows how women are treated in Mexico. Many of them have to work as prostitutes or are paid as drinking companions to drunk men.

I live in Guadalajara, those places are in Downtown, and they really suck, it's like, bars for bums and beggers. Those places should be closed.

I live in Monterrey, and in the most underwolrd area, you can be asked for LITERALLY Grandmas or pregnant woman, to have sex for like 2 dollars, that´s some poor life they have, i wish we have them same oportunities in life or maybe some people take one wrong choice after another till they reach rock bottom n_sad

@ klunkr - mexico is a wonderful and amazing place. full of wonderful sites, fantastic cites and amazing people. however, it is not like any other place in the world...there are areas that are simply not safe for the 'white collar' peoples.i love mexico. and i hope one day to visit again. i am an american.
