not cruel when north korea hits them? its just for safety measurements so they can defend themselves against north korea. south korea has limited military personnel and needs every able to defend their land. this kids are trained for their safety at an early age so they get used to it later. it isn't actually cruel cause you gain a mental and physical education from this trainings as well as firm discipline towards yourself and others. :]
