I've seen 1 in 3 and 1 in 2 to get cancer. Lots of cancers are benign and treated without problem (and fanfare). Most cancers are a result of simple old age and cell damage. The longer you live, the more chance of cancer you get and we're all living longer so this stat is not a surprise or incorrect.
