These are numerous pieces of very interesting designer furniture by many Belgian designer Kaspar Hamacher. They are stools that are made from logs that are burnt with the bark stripped and the logs refinished. The project is called Ausgebrannt, which in German stands for ‘burnt out'.
Quite an interesting idea and execution.
Now known world wide as the Fukushima Fifty, these pictures show this group of plant managers working feverishly to stop and contain the overheating reactors from further expelling harmful radiation. Astonishingly, many of these men have already said they know they might not survive the high levels of radiation they have been exposed to.
