the infrastructure in the US has been allowed to degrade. The result is what you see in these pics.A bridge has to be checked regularily, a culvert has to be kept clear etc etc, failure to maintain results in disaster

I'd like to remind the two idiots who find it amusing, the U.S. is one of the first countries to come to the aid of people in third world countries (Haiti is one example) when a natural disaster takes place.
