From pork to bacon, this is how you do it at home instead of buying it all prepared.

 

The ingredients: water, apple cider, molasses, salt, sugar, black pepper, and pork belly

Making the cure

Let the meat soak in cure additions for three days

Applewood  chunks for a homemade smoker

Cardboard box serves as a cold chamber

The smoke - but not the heat - travels through a pipe to the box

Crudely attached computer fan helps the smoke to get into the box

Some cheddar is added when the bacon is almost ready

Slicing the bacon

Seems like too much effort. I will just go to Tesco and buy some. On that note, I agree with Forget, American Bacon is a bit odd and not like the good shit (all natural and 100% meat) that we get in Europe. Different cultures and different tastes I suppose. I'm a fucking storm Trooper.

You have no idea what you are talking about... Man I'm from IOWA... all we have here is corn and pigs!... And what the hell do you mean about "all natural" ... how the fuck can bacon NOT be 100% meat... that is all it is... slices of pork belly, spice, salt and smoke... I dont know what you "European" snobs think real bacon is... but just like so many things.. you boast about knowing more than you actually do.
