Dear Izismilers,

It’s time to speak about serious stuff.

Like many other websites we place banner advertising to pay our expenses such as website hosting, the work of a programmer, content managers, and to have some money to live on. We have no other choice. Many advertisers buy the advertisement from us through an advertising agency. We physically cannot keep track of all the ads, we cannot review every banner displayed on izismile. Because of this, there are sometimes troubles with ads and you can stumble upon a video banner with automatic sound. And the worst thing is when the sound can’t be turned off. Is it bad? Of course it is bad! Every time this happens it's a state of emergency for the entire team. We promptly get in touch with the advertising agency trying to search for the "bad" banner and ban it on the site. If you suddenly see such a banner, don’t just write me angry emails accusing me of greed. We don’t  try to make money at any cost.

There is no and will never be advertising with sound on the site as well as pop-ups and pop-unders intentionally on our part. You will have to take my word for it. Now, how do you, the Izismile user, can help us deal with the "bad" ads? Click here for all instructions.

If you like Izismile but do not understand that for it to function properly you need to watch ads (no one forcing you to click on them) then download and install Adblock. You will not have advertising and we won’t have money to continue the work.

BIG REQUEST TO ALL.

I would like you to go inside the post and vote whether the advertising is "good" or "bad" and write your opinion about the ads in the comments.

If all of you don’t like advertising, we will change the advertising agency and advertisers.

Take 1 minute of your time and help Izismile get better. Thank you.

Some of us have our browsers set with as much anti-Ad software as we can find. I don't see any ads so do as you like.

The ads pay the bills so I don't have to. That's the way I like it.

Doesn't bother me.. It's called ad blockers.. I never click them, so I see no point in seeing them, so I block them.

Problem solved.

based on the comments above and this statement:

"If you like Izismile but do not understand that for it to function properly you need to watch ads (no one forcing you to click on them) then download and install Adblock. You will not have advertising and we won’t have money to continue the work."

it sounds like izismile may have a fairly limited life. true / not true, admin?

ty admin, but what i meant was, it sounded like adblock (etc) has the potential to close the site through loss of ad revenue.

i wasn't trying to question how long you've been in operation or what your good intentions are!

I try to remember to turn off ad block when coming here. You guys gotta have money to keep the website up. If I have to look at some ads, then so be it. Don't want you guys going anywhere.

For some time now, I tend to keep Flash off unless I specifically need it for something, makes everything faster, reduces crashes and also rules out the nasty ones probably (though I initially started doing it due to a computer issue that made browsing extremely slow with it on - issue mitigated since, but got used to it). But location helps a lot too I guess, as I don't recall any "talkies" even before, even on other sites that I visited and which posted messages like this one.
As for the ones I do see, that's quite fine, price to pay for free stuff, wouldn't use adblockers. The frequent refresh is a tad annoying though, and I'm not sure how much additional revenue you obtain from so many daily impressions of the same ads by the same users.

Awww.. I see someone didn't like that I block ads.

Tough.

Fact is, unless they're running a CPM model, even wasting my time "viewing" the ads is a waste of my time and bandwidth. And I highly doubt that any viable CPM ad network worth its salt would back the site. So it's safe to say that it's a CPC model.

And I'm not clicking.

It's been very bad lately. I just had no fewer than 4 video ads "go off" on the page at the same time. And the first one is ALWAY at the very bottom of the page. The ads load before/faster than the actual content. I'm strongly considering abandoning this site for good.

Thanks for your honesty, Izismile. I think most visitors realize that advertising is a necessary evil. It costs money to host this website and shitloads of time to keep it maintained and updated as often as you do - thanks again for all that.
The problem is that, as you have admitted to, some of your advertisers are douchebags. They ruin it for the other legit advertisers. After being blindsided with screaming, flashing (& maybe adult oriented) ads, many visitors have probably installed Adblock or similar programs and block ALL ads.
So, as I see it, you have a few options...
1. Do nothing about the advertisers, let them run any kind of ads they want and take their money. You'll have a few pissed off visitors, but fuck 'em.
2. Spend more time and preview each ad before it gets loaded onto your site and make sure the ads are the type you specifically want to allow.
3. Make Izismile a pay service where 'membership has it's privileges' and if a visitor pays, no ads. No payment = lots of ads. As a bonus, paying visitors could see more adult material (real adult material, not that lame ass shit that's being passed of as NSFW lately).
I recommend #1. Let the whiners whine about the ads but do nothing. For you whiners that are reading this: FUCK YOU. Izismile is FREE - If you can do better, spend your own money (or mommy and daddy's money) and build your own website. Until then, STFU.

The ads don't normally bother me however, the ones with videos really bug me, I usually open a few tabs at a time and then suddenly a video will start playing and I won't know which tab it is in, and it's so damn loud so I have to close all tabs until it stops, very frustrating. Also recently another add has been diverting me from your website, I think it's supposed to open another tab (that's what it does when I view the site in firefox) but in chrome I get sent to a different site, you may want to look into that.

For what it's worth... long time user here, and I know the ads are essential to pay for the goodies shamelessly lifted that I shamelessly lift, BUT the audio and video ones are incredibly annoying, and seem to be particularly bad when I use the mac at home rather than the pc at work. I've pretty much given up trying to access this site after work hours.

I have been viewing this website for my 4 years in high school, I just graduated this month! It has been a tradition for all 4 years to log onto this site during my computer class with my friends around me and look at the funny picdumps and watch videos on this site. We have been in love with the dedication you and your team has put into running this site efficiently and keeping the posts flowing continuously. This account is a group account of about 5 guys in my computer class but I get to keep it through college. This is my first comment/post whatever this is. I have absolutely no problem with the advertising that you have on this site. In addition to my opinion if you had too many advertisements our strict school would have automatically blocked your site along with the millions of other sites we can't access at school. Me and the 5 guys that browse your site at highschool want to thank you for the 4 years of izismile that kept us from falling asleep in the most boring class we had at our highschool.

Get pop ups on ipad. Sometimes I have to shut the browser as there is no way of closing them.

My anti virus software on PC has your site marked as 'potentially dangerous' that will put a lot of people off.

Ads are necessary for us to keep watching without pay. the annoying part with how i use the site, is opening 4/5 tabs with the stuff i want to see so it got time to load but when all 5 pages start blasting the same advert thorugh headset it's not a nice echoing sounds i get. One of the thing i don't get is generally on right hand side 4/5 same ad appear.

Love your site, hate the noisy ads. Thanks for doing what you can to get rid of them. As a daily viewer I would much rather have ads then to see you close up shop. I'll turn off the speakers on my end if I have to.

It's not as if they buy the stuff they put on here. They themselves lift stuff all the time from other websites. 9Gag mostly.

I don't know why anyone feels like they have to apologize for blocking ads, if someone starts a website like this, they have to expect to pay their bills, and shouldn't expect everyone else to shoulder the burden, especially when there are many, many sites out there that shit all over this one.

At work ads are blocked at the firewall level for many reasons. It is unfortunate that some of us have to do this. It is the bad ads that causes us to block all ads. The ad agencies should stick to static ads without any extra elements other than a link to the sponsors webpage. If they could stick to that, then we wouldn't have to worry about it.

THe ads with sound really pissed me off, everytime I refreshed BAM there it is again. Anyhow, I just took to hitting the old mute button. As far as the ads go, I dont pay much attention to them, I treat them as a messy little border around my funnies.

Just had an ad redirect to App Store on ipad without asking. It closed the tab I was browsing in just for good measure. It is the worst behaviour possible for ads.

I do not mind ads at all, but having an auto redirect to try to get me to download an app is bad. Just for good measure, I gave that app a 1 star rating, which will hurt their sales.
