er, no offense, but that really doesn't accomplish much unless someone follows up with a SAM or something.

side note: whoever was selling green laser pointers sure made a killing in egypt!

Well, they should have let the Scorpion King take over ages ago and Egypt would have been a totally different place, imo.

Lasers can be used to make it hard to see though the windows of helicopters and airplanes. The laser makes a bright shine on the window, making it hard to see through and messing up the night vision of the pilot. Sadly, people living near airports around the world are having fun pointing lasers at landing aircrafts and helicopters. There have been several cases near me, and not only kids are being caught doing this.

Since it's a military helicopter I assume the pilots are protected against laser light (and the angle might not allow the light to hit their eyes anyway), but such light will easily blind you (like any bright light would), and it can even cause permanent eye dame in a fraction of a second.

I just read about an 11 year old boy that had had eyes damaged after just a short burst of laser light into his eyes. (Not "let me see how long I can stare into this laser pointer" type of situation.)
