A Sad Example of Where Expectation Does Not Meet Reality (18 pics)

When judging a possible hotel or resort destination online, it is important to realise that sometimes things are made to look better than they are. Here are some examples of a Mexican holiday resort in Puerto Vallarta where the pictures told a different story to the reality.

Expectation: The photo of the Jacuzzi shows a cozy café in the background and many palm trees.

Reality: The Jacuzzi is quite unremarkable and simple.

Expectation: The pool looks very big and enticing in this lighting.

Reality: The pool is a normal size and quite plain.

Expectation: The resort looks like a quiet and peaceful paradise.

Reality: It is filled with kids playing and lots of other water activities.

Expectation: The pool area looks big and tranquil.

Reality: The pool area is often crowded and busy.

Expectation: Beautiful models in bikinis.

Reality: Normal people with their families.

Expectation: A stunning balcony view.

Reality: Nothing very exciting to see here.

Expectation: Warm and comfortable luxury bathroom.

Reality: Boring, stone bathroom with standard fittings.

Expectation: High-end gym facilities.

Reality: All the gym equipment that is actually on offer for use.

Expectation: A spacious bathroom.

Reality: The real size of the bathroom shows how cramped it really is.

#1 & #2 - Seriously? The pictures are from 2 different angles

.
If it jams, force it!
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway

Yes... The bathrooms are different in the $500 Suite and the $60 Room.

#15 -- How would anybody expect "High-end gym facilities" from that picture?

Come on, you could expect everything of that if you're a tiny bit clever. Hotels are meant to be filled. You'll never go to an empty hotel with nobody by the pool.
This hotel looks great, I would love to have the chance to spend vacation there.

If you cannot think of a good post, don't post anything.

well the manipulation is subtle, but nothing too astonishing. either way, anybody not searching online reviews before going on vacation is nuts IMO.

Just because you are too amateurish with the camera (Or your plain phone-camera) doesn't mean they tricked you. You got what you saw, you just think life is THAT vivid and peaceful, it isn't, even YOU pose for photos, just like those companies

It all depend on the angle, lighting (evening sunset) and expensive camera. Whether the hotel is shit or not, if they offer me to stay there for free, I'll take it...
You must think that I'm a monster...

Some of these are pretty accurate. I'm pretty sure I stayed at #5 and #6!! The hotel balconies look exactly the same. They had basketball and volleyball courts too. It was awesome!
