How do they keep that stuff from rotting? Plus it attracts bugs and rodents. I would say, no thank you.

It's a valid building material, though. If you build it right, it won't rot or attract bugs or rodents. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw-bale_construction
