Up until the late 1990s, you could buy one of these for a song from a number of RRs and even have it delivered... if you had tracks close to its intended destination, that is.
They were mostly ratty as hell but, still, they were very collectible.
When folks started doing stuff like this, though... prices went through the roof. Some small towns that have them as curios outside of old stations and museums have been wanting to sell 'em off but the townsfolk won't let them!
