I never put the dash on the seven to honour anything! (But now I do!) I did it to avoid taking one of my scribbleds 7s for a 1, and because I think it looks way better that way.

Same here. No honor, it's to simply make 7 look more different from 1.

Seven should always have a dash , in order to differentiate 7 from 1. I have a kid and I know what I'm talking about.

I don't understand why somebody would waste so much time making this up.

Al-Khwarizmi used the Hindu numerals. He wrote 'On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals' in the 9th century which swayed most of the other Arabic mathematicians to use the Hindu numerals. They look nothing like what is above.

I don't mind the super long post, but I do mind the numerous misspellings and awful grammar. If you're going to make something this long, at least proofread!
