I can't believe "Bridge Over The River Kwai", "Doctor Zhivago" and "Tora! Tora! Tora!" didn't make this list.

Guns, tanks and jets doesn't make many of them military. There is a lot of true military movies (facts and characters).

Downfall (2005)
Downfall depicts the end of the European stage of World War II from insider Adolf Hitler's bunker in Berlin. The movie depicts Hitler's final days as he, and his fellow high ranking Nazis, realize the futility of their position in the war and the end of the Third Reich.
