This is Freedom Cove, a home/artist commune built on 12 floating man-made islands, located in Cypress Bay, just northeast of Tofino, B.C.

Wayne Adams and Catherine King began building this floating home together in 1992. They dubbed it Freedom Cove and call it a "floating food garden." They gain money by selling their works of art as well as their veggies and fruit they harvest from their garden throughout the year, plus they are fishing.

They generate their own electricity with the use of photovoltaics, and collect rainwater and water from a nearby waterfall for drinking.

Everything was hand built by King with a hacksaw and hammer, and he estimates that the entire structure weighs about 1 million pounds.

You can also book a Boat Tours to visit Freedom Cove from June to Sept.
