Mathew Halsall has died in Castletown, Isle of Man, in 1854, and his burial place is looking a bit unsettling to this day – it’s surrounded by chains. Why is that? It’s simple – his contemporaries thought him to be a vampire, so they covered his grave with concrete and “blocked” it with chains.
