In February 2004, a twin-engine supersonic, all-weather carrier-capable multi-role combat F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet was auctioned on eBay. The owner of the plane had purchased the jet from a scrap yard and he had offered to have the plane restored for a Buy It Now price of $9,000,000. The auction ended without a winning bidder.
