Mark Twain (74)
This photo was taken 10 days before Samuel Clemens (also known as Mark Twain) died. In his late years, the writer was very depressed. However, this is how he answered the premature obituary in the New York Journal: “The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.“
A year before he died, he said, ”I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year (1910), and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet." This is what happened. The writer died from heart disease.
