A 19-year-old Delhi boy, Adnan Khurram was arrested by Delhi police on Saturday, for impersonating as a doctor at AIIMS for the last five months.

A Hindustan Times report said he used a fake identity to make friends across various departments and medical students. He had accessed a diary issued to doctors. He even made different claims to different doctors.

One statement suggests he committed the crime to help an ailing family member get preferential treatment. Another suggests that he liked spending time with doctors and wanted to become one too.

Khurram has been booked under IPC sections 419 (impersonation) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) at Hauz Khas Police Station.

No patients were reported to have been harmed due to his impersonation.
