Thanks to the Internet, we don’t have to go all the way to Africa in order to see the kinds of unique, creative and slightly crazy things that go on there.
This aircraft is the first project manufactured by folks from the African Space Research Program. It’s called African Skyhawk and, according to those who made it, it is the first African made aircraft. The shuttle is designed to hold two pilots inside.
The African lake village of Ganvie is built on bamboo stilts above Lake Nokoue in the Republic of Benin. This watery wonder is the African 'Venice' with a population of 20,000.
Many African countries are still stuck in the past, which makes for some pretty darn funny situations. Check out these bizarre, creative and sometimes unbelievable images of Africans living their day-to-day lives.

Do you think this is Photoshop? No, it’s not. The full story is right after the jump.
There is a street artist somewhere in Africa creating these large detailed paintings of various animals. Take a look at these powerful images of detailed animals slapped on the side of buildings.
Photographer Paul Close traveled throughout Africa on a motorcycle setting up a white background and snapping portraits of locals. He asked them one simple question “What would make your life better?” The result was the unique collection titled “Snakebox Odyssey.”

This old comic about Mickey Mouse and his friend Goofy is talking about them selling Peppo in Africa. Peppo is nothing less than a crank or speed, other words an amphetamine that you can only get in a pharmacy on prescription.

Funny comics about "AIDS relief" in Africa and how it can help.
Well, the comic strip is funny, but haters gonna hate.
Here’s what the author wrote himself: "…that it's more about men and video games than any commentary on AIDS or Africa". So everyone who may think that it is offensive, just chill out.
Peace :)

Soccer or football in Europe, is one of the most popular sports in the world and is very famous in African countries. Almost every kid there plays it. Often, they don’t have equipped fields or good quality balls in the streets but it doesn’t seem to bother them because they have a lot of imagination and hand skills :)

Those are some monster snails!!
The shells of giant African land snails often grow to a length of 20cm. You won’t find snails that big in your backyard except… if you live in Africa!
I think even Fench people don’t eat those…

Little boys will have uncanny ability to make toys to play with out of just about anything that is available to them. From imaginary headphones made from strands of wire to scooters made from scraps of old wood with carved wheels to airplanes made from coat hangers and cardboard, boys always manage to figure out a way to make something to play with. It is truly a credit to the human spirit and the science of engineering that boys will always have toys.

The Ga-Adangbe are an ethnic group in the West African nation of Ghana.
The Ga people are renowned worldwide for their funeral celebrations and processions. The Ga believe that when someone dies, they move to another life. Therefore, special coffins are often crafted by highly skilled carpenters. The coffins can be anything wanted by relatives of the deceased from a pencil to any animal such as an elephant. Coffins are usually crafted to reflect an essence of the deceased, in forms such as a character trait, an occupation, or a symbol of one's standing in the community. For example, a taxicab driver is most likely to be buried in a coffin shaped as a car. These coffins are usually very expensive, as their nature means that skilled carpenters take longer to produce them compared to conventional coffins.
Take a look inside the post at those unusual coffins.

They have some strange traditions, outfits, makeup…etc. Their way of life is very special and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t like to live in the conditions they’re living in.
Take a look at those beautiful pictures inside the post.

They are just plain weddings in a deep province, everyone is invited... ! But not everybody comes...
The more people have come, the more they respect you and more money they will give you as a gift.
But until you built a house and paid for the wedding (it costs about 5 thousands bucks) any father won’t give away his daughter to you.

Being an albino in Africa is not only difficult but also very dangerous.
There is a real “hunt” on them in Tanzania and Burundi.
People believe that the body parts of albinos bring wealth and luck.
For example, fishermen are making fishing nets out of their hair because they believe it will bring abundance and lots of fish.
International organizations offer camps where albinos can live and be protected.

One million dollars is offered to anyone who can throw a ball into the hole located at the foot of the mountain in South Africa. (see second picture inside the post).
To give you an idea of the distance I will tell you - once the ball is launched, it stays about thirty seconds in the air, flying almost half of a kilometer! The players are brought at the top of the mountain on a helicopter.

Do you often complain about some stuff on Twitter or Facebook? Maybe some things irritate you or the way they function. Well, stop complaining and look how African bloggers work. Actually, one African blogger from Monrovia, Liberia - Alfred Sirleaf. He writes his « daily news » on a big blackboard. He employs people to report him news around the city and country. He uses symbols like military helmets for the illiterate people. There is also a place for ads and there are people who’re willing to pay for them to put their ad. The price varies from $5-15 depending upon the section on the blackboard. Alfred Sirleaf is planning to open such spots in different parts of the city to pass information for those who are unable to go on the Internet, to have a TV or even to buy newspapers.
