Running of the Brides (14 pics)

Hundreds of girls across the country gathered in New York to take part in the sale of wedding dresses. Running of the Brides is a so-called race when a crowd of women burst into the shop and sweep in front of all of them to find the perfect dress. After all, during a normal period, a wedding dress like this from a known designer is worth several thousand dollars, but this day, you can buy it for only $250.

How To Drug Yourself Into Submission Without Killing Yourself (12 pics)

If you live in New York City, you may find some very controversial fliers which provide the details on how to shoot heroin complete all the tips on how to prep the dope and inject it into your arm. In other words, they released a Junkie’s Guide. I can even picture a good advertisement for it; “Want to try some heroin, but you’re scared? Well don’t worry, ‘The Junkie’s Guide’ will teach you how to do it safely.” I know many of you may not agree with me, but as for me, this is a complete bullsh*. What will be next, a Suicide Guide?

A Spring in New York – Great Photo Project (6 pics)

Posted in Pictures 9 Nov 2009   / 3920 views
This is a cool project by Fred Lebain.
He just went to different areas of New York and took photos. He later printed those pictures in a large poster format. One year after his first visit, he went to the same spots and took a larger shot in which he set the poster he printed from his first visit.
The result is cool, I just wished there were more of these…

Rat Stuck in Sidewalk + some Photoshopping (33 pics)

It has been called: possibly the saddest thing ever!
A guy found a rat stuck in the sidewalk. He says: "I was walking along and texting. Not really paying that much attention. Then something caught my eye. I thought I was about to step in dog shit, but quickly realized it was a rat stuck in the sidewalk. A big rat. It had tried to squeeze through a crack in the sidewalk and failed." That’s the story of the sad rat.

It’s a sad story so Photoshoppers made it a little more fun and created some funny pics. Here it is:

What about a 25 million dollar triplex penthouse apartment in New York ? (13 pics)

Posted in Pictures 18 Aug 2009   / 148382 views

Yes, this is not a mistake, this triplex penthouse apartment located in a clock tower near the Brooklyn Bridge and the Port of New York really costs some modest $25 million.
As it is a penthouse in a tower clock, each facade has a working clock in a 14-foot-high round window. This means you always know what time it is, unless you forget to read the time backwards...
And as it is a triplex, there are 3 floors and a very large area. The first floor which is the main floor is 3000 square feet - it is composed of an open living room, a dining room and a kitchen with a 16-foot ceiling.
At the center of the space, there is a glass-walled elevator surrounded by a staircase that leads to 2 other smaller floors. The 2nd floor is 2300 square feet and consists of 3 bedrooms. Finally, the last floor is "only" 988 square feet - it is an open loft with a 15-foot ceiling.
Another interesting fact, ‘the price is more than double the highest price known to have been paid for a home in Brooklyn.’ Its creator, David Walentas, said that ‘the ClockTower apartment was not timed to the fluctuations in the real estate market, because the apartment was a one-of-a-kind space that would appeal only to a one-of-a-kind buyer...’ The flat offers of course a beautiful view over the city, the port, the bridges and the East River.
So, tempted?)

Light scare in New York (5 pics + 1 video)

The day before yesterday morning in Manhattan, New Yorkers had a light scare as they saw the US president's official airliner accompanied by two fighter jets flying at low altitude near the Statue of Liberty and the skyscrapers. Office workers stormed out of the buildings.
In fact, all this flyover was a photo op of the presidential airplane in front of national landmarks as a advertising campaign. Apparently, the local authorities were not notified and the New York mayor said that it was “insensitive” to do that, because of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Look at the photos and a video taken by witnesses of this event inside the post.

This photo was taken on a mobile phone. Doesn’t it give an impression of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center?

These small metal structures that allow efficient use of parking space, can be found in densely populated New York City.
Last week, one of such parking lots couldn’t bear the weight of cars and collapsed, forming a pile of Lexus, Land Rover and Honda Accord.
