Portuguese photographer Jose Ferreira took these bleak shots of the destitute Maputo garbage dump, where thousands of people scrape out a living by recycling thrown away items.
These are photos of Marseilles, France. It seems that the garbage collectors have been on strike and this is the result. Apparently, they are trying to force the President to raise the retirement age to 62. But I doubt if the President is having any trouble getting his garbage picked up.
