The turns of the century brought with it some revolutionary ideas and nowhere were they more evident than in New York City. New York City is probably the most urbanized city in the United States and when the turn of the century came around all the inventions of the era showed up there as is demonstrated in these amazing photos of the beginning of the 20th Century. This is a really interesting selection of strange inventions that were presented in 2009. There’s a bit of everything from the Bra Dryer to the hotel for fish! Maybe these inventions are not that stupid but the fact is that they are unnecessary. Well, it’s the human nature – always wanting to experiment and invent. This is a good thing though ;)  Let’s make a little journey into the past today. I just want to share with you what I have learnt recently. It’s about all the crazy things that our grand-parents came up with )) I couldn’t even imagine that 50-60 years ago people could thought through such things ) Well, many of these inventions are hilarious, stupid, incredible or simply useless. But still, it’s interesting to know the way people saw things back then ) I spent many hours on the modernmechanix looking through dozens of inventions and selected the best of them, in my opinion! So, let’s go! Walking the Dog Drives Poochmobile (Nov, 1939)  Millions of people died because of that. Beautiful photos of powerful invention that brought tears and sadness.  |
