According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) (and their just released 2016 Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries), 5,190 civilian workers died while working in 2016. That’s an average of 3,6 deaths per 100,000 full-time employees. But some jobs have much higher averages.
Business Insider analyzed US Census data for 478 jobs. According to the data they found, the average working American works about 39 hours a week, and the median earned income across all occupations is $32,000.
