One of the members of the Facebook group “Monolinguals are the worst” started a thread where people from different countries translated some of their native words to English WAY TOO LITERALLY.
The Foreign Service Institute has sorted major languages around the world into 5 categories of difficulty according to their differences from English, and Reddit user Fummy has translated that data into a color-coded map to make it all simpler. Difficulty levels are based on time it takes to learn a language.
These common words actually mean something completely different in other languages and you might want to be careful if you use them on your next holiday to a foreign country!
