The goats in these photos are either very brave or very stupid or both. I know that mountain goats are supposed to be good climbers but this is ridiculous. How they ever got in some of the places they got to in these photos is beyond me. In addition to being brave or stupid, maybe they can fly as well?  In a beautiful part of southern China there are some mountains called the Southern Sky Column Mountains which have recently been renamed to the Avatar Hallelujah Mountains after the floating mountains that were featured in the blockbuster movie Avatar. The floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie were the inspiration of a Hollywood photographer who, in 2008, shot photos of the Southern Sky Column Mountains. Now, tourists can go on a tour to see Avatar's floating mountain and learn that they were once called the Southern Sky Mountains.  On Friday, February 20, after a long day of carrying equipment to set up the hot tub at the top of the Pic Chaussy (Switzerland), 25 people partied, had a hot bath and slept in tents. They did it again the next day and took a bath at noon with a breathtaking panoramic view. It was the fourth edition of this hot bathing in altitude. It‘s tempting but you’ve got to be motivated…  Thousands of gallons of paint, adobe and straw were needed to Leonard Knight to create a Salvation Mountain. With this project, he wanted to convey to people the message "God Loves Everyone". This colorful art installation is located in California, near Slab City. And now let’s view the photos.  Vatnajökull is the largest glacier in Iceland. It is located in the south-east of the island, covering more than 8% of the country. With a size of 8,100 km², it is the largest glacier in Europe in volume (3,100 km³) and the second largest in area. The average thickness of the ice is 400 m, with a maximum thickness of 1,000 m. Under the glacier, as under many of the glaciers of Iceland, there are several volcanoes. So here are some b/w pics of the largest glacier in Europe, don’t miss them, they are beautiful.  It’s the biggest Swiss flag in the world and certainly one of the biggest flags in the world (the second behind is the Israeli one, I think,). Saturday, August 1st, was the Swiss National Day and for the occasion, they mounted on mountain Saentis the largest Swiss flag ever. It measures 120 meters by 120 meters (14.400 m²) – that’s huge!  Here is an impressive way of celebrating the National Day, so don’t miss it, take a look on the pics inside the post.  Wow! How did they only get there?!!  Mt. Huashan is famous for its egregious cliffs. One cliff seems to be steeper than the previous one. The temple for God of Mt. Huashan is situated on the South Peak, one of the most difficult cliffs to climb. If you like adventure vacations it is absolutely the place to go. It’s dangerous, tough and exciting. I would definitely do this ))  |
