The latest big musical scandal at the MTV VMA 2009. Kanye West has once again shown his arrogance. At the ceremony of MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West didn’t agree with the fact that the award for best female video went to Taylor Swift. During her acceptance speech, Kanye grabbed the microphone straight from her hands and said: “Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyonce have one of the best videos of all time!" Then he handed the microphone back to Taylor and withdrew himself from the stage.  Burning Man is an eight-day annual event held in the Black Rock Desert, in Northern Nevada. It takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy on Saturday evening. The event is described by many participants as an experiment in community, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. The event was open from the last Monday in August until Labor Day (August 31st to September 7th 2009, so yesterday). In 2008, 49,599 people participated in Burning Man, in 1986, it was only 20 people on a small beach in San Francisco… It is all about art, music and performance and this year, the theme was “Evolution”.  Wacken Open Air (W:O:A) is one of the leading summer open air heavy metal music festivals. It takes place annually in a small town in northern Germany. It attracts all kinds of metal music fans, such as fans of black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, gothic metal and folk metal, from around the world. The 2009 edition set a sales record; it sold out on December 30 2008. All 70,000 tickets were sold over 200 days before the opening of the festival.  Chastity Bono is a celebrity daughter of famous American entertainers Cher and Sony Bono. Some short facts: she’s a LGBT rights advocate, writer, actor, and musician. In 1995, she publicly identified herself as lesbian in a cover interview in The Advocate. Bono is undergoing female-to-male gender transition, as confirmed by her publicist in July 2009. So, now let’s see her transition in pictures.  Thousands of people came at the B93's 17th-annual Birthday Bash country music concert at the Ionia Fairgrounds, Michigan. It all started well, but later people had trouble to leave. A stretch of the Grand River rose Saturday, cutting off exits to parking area for thousands of people. They had to abandon their vehicles and take only the essential with them. They found shelter in a local school. Woodstock was a music festival, held at Max Yasgur's 600 acre (2.4 km²; 240 ha) dairy farm in the rural town of Bethel, New York from August 15 to August 18, 1969. Bethel (Sullivan County) is 43 miles (69 km) southwest of the village of Woodstock, New York, in adjoining Ulster County. The festival exemplified the counterculture of the late 1960s – early 1970s and the "hippie era". Thirty-two of the best-known musicians of the day appeared during the sometimes rainy weekend in front of nearly half a million concertgoers. There were such singer, musicians and groups like The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin, Joan Baez, Jimmy Hendrix, Grateful Dead, Ravi Shankar, Carlos Santana and others.It is widely regarded as one of the greatest moments in popular music history and was listed on Rolling Stone's 50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll.  |
