I still can’t believe these are sculptures and not real people. Marc Sijan’s figures look incredible. They are so lifelike and graceful! I can even see veins and pores in the skin. This is just unbelievable that someone could create such impressive and believable figurative sculptures.

Animals, people, plants – anything is a subject to topiary. This art of creating sculptures in the medium of clipped shrubbery and trees is unbelievable. If only I could have a topiary sculpture in my garden, I’d be the happiest person on earth!

I Can’t Believe It’s Butter (16 pics)

Posted in Pictures 5 Feb 2010   / 3937 views
The sculptures in these photos are truly amazing. What makes them even more amazing is that they are sculpted entirely out of butter. The artist must really be talented and the temperature of the room where the sculpture was created must have been critical.

My brain exploded. On the one hand, these photorealistic sculptures look a little scary, but in anyway they are mega cool.
Most successful hyperrealistic sculptures were created by Ron Mueck, Evan Penny, Jamie Salmon, Duane Hanson, Sam Jinks and Adam Beane.
We will take a look at their work after the jump. A must-see post ;)

It’s really an amazing type of work.
If you are near the sculpture, it just looks like a pile of garbage, but if you are placed at the right angle and distance, then you see the masterpieces. It’s just amazing what you can do with garbage.
All done by Bernard Pras, a French artist.

I’m usually indifferent to this activity - making things from a balloon.
For me it is like clown stuff. But these ‘sculptures’ made by this artist impressed me a lot.

Sculptures in the eye of a needle (28 pics)

Posted in Pictures 15 Jun 2009   / 15536 views
The British mini-sculptor Willard Wigan creates these incredible mini sculptures that have already the status of “the eighth wonder of the world”. The process of creating is very delicate and almost anything can affect his work. So, the artist “enters a meditative state in which his heartbeat is slowed, allowing him to reduce hand tremors and sculpt between pulse beats”. It’s just impressive what efforts artists should do in order to achieve the desired effect. Just look at his works.

Live sculptures in urban spaces (22 pics)

Posted in Pictures 11 Jun 2009   / 5276 views
The sculptures were standing in one place only for a few minutes, then they disintegrated, ran to another place and transformed into something different.
Willi Dorner, an Austrian choreographer, was behind all this performance. A very interesting idea!

Ron Mueck is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor working in Great Britain.
Mueck's sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images.
Great works. Just need to see it!

Peter Callesen a master of paper sculptures (129 pics)

What would be your first idea of doing with a piece of paper?
To draw, or at least try to draw, or may be write something? But to do this?!!!
Peter Callesen is a Danish artist who creates these fabulous works from paper.
It seems that he is inspired from fairytales when it comes to pick up a theme for his sculptures.
His works are very beautiful and unbelievably imaginative!
