Wayne Adams and Catherine King have spent the past 20 years building their own island near British Columbia. It is called Freedom Cove and has 12 floating platforms that run off of solar power. It is also a self-sufficient food garden. In winter, Wayne and Catherine collect rainwater for drinking and in summer, they use a nearby waterfall.

These smart people found a nifty way to heat their home hot tub using solar power and a kiddie pool.
