Yes, the disease can be painful. They suffer all the infirmities of old age:heart attacks, strokes, osteoporosis, arthritis, etc. It doesn't affect their intelligence level. Inside, they are young people with the same dreams and hopes that everyone else has. They have the same needs and desires. They want to be loved, accepted, be a part of society.
