What you've failed to mention is that these African Snails are some of the most venomous animals on Earth. They may be slow, but they have four fangs in front that can grow up to 1" long and when agitated, they will inject a very powerful neurotoxin-type poison deep into the flesh of the animal agitating it. Nature has a way of balancing things out - these snails can't chase after their prey, so when an animal tries to feed on them, they bite back and the predator become the prey. Handling these snails and letting them crawl on your face is not only dangerous, it's downright stupid. Do a Google search on them and you'll find that over 200 people a year are killed by these monsters.
The Cone Shell snails are even more dangerous. They have small poisonous spikes that pop out of the tip of their coned shells and the males of the species can shoot their venomous saliva up to 40 feet.
