Interestingly, anyone protecting "Cane Toads" is committing an offence under Quarantine laws in Australia.
Cane Toads are noxious poisonous pests who are an introduced species that does untold ecological damage to both native fauna and livestock. Not to mention it is poisonous to humans.
Killing them "humanely" is ok, though running them over on the road, or yelling FORE whilst hitting them with a 5 iron is normally preferably.
