I've seen that happen before. Sitting at a friend's apartment in college, the cabinets over the island between the living room and kitchen collapsed.

Wow! Was it not made correctly? Or was their too much weight in it? Crazy. It looks like solid wood even.
oh well - great excuse to update the kitchen and get a fabulous new dinnerware set.
