The point of the blog was EDC(EVERY DAY CARRY). Sure most people don't find themselves needing this everyday, but it's not going to tell you when you are going to need this shit. Accidents and shit happen on a daily basis. The point of EDC was being prepared for anything at anytime.

The reason for one person with many knives, look up the Navy seal rule called "Two is one, one is none"

Nobody got killed from being too careful

Nice job taking the photos out of context. Maybe I should line up a bunch of white people with hoods and imply that they all must be KKK members. By the way,izismile.com sucks. Horrible layout and design. GTFO.

Most of these pictures are from one blog. everyday-carry . com which focus on the utilitarian (and sometimes tactical) aspects of pocket dumps/bag dumps/every day carries. Knives are common, guns not so much. Usually the people who carry guns in these pictures are involved in law enforcement, some conceal carry for protection. Doesn't mean they are violent psychos just waiting to unload into a crowd of orphan aids babies.

Knives are infinitely useful tools. I generally have two on my person; a medium sized folder and a small knife on my keychain. As well as a handkerchief, flashlight, pen, keys, wallet, etc. Usually have a swiss army knife in my back pack as well. Just today I used my knife to open a package, sharpen a pencil, and while skiing I used the screwdriver on my SAK to fix the bindings on my sisters snowboard. Just because there's half a dozen knives in a pictures doesn't mean the person carries all of them, they're just showing off their collection.

Theoretically I could use my knife as a weapon to defend myself. Without training odds are it would only make things worse.

Do you even give credit to EDC here? Great job.

To those who wonder about the firearms and knives: I carry for the same reason I wear a seatbelt. Sh*t happens. I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I carry 2 guns. Every day. I keep a couple shotguns and a couple AR-15's stashed around my house. Home invasions are real, no matter where you live.

It's not like I think I will need any of them--I hope I never will. I'm not in law enforcement, I'm not a drug addict; I'm just a regular guy. My job involves me handling large sums of cash, as well as taking that cash to the bank for deposits. While I live in a small town, that doesn't rule anything out.

I also wear my seat belt everywhere. I eat OK. I don't smoke and drink infrequently. I also train dynamically with my guns on a regular basis. I don't carry because I'm reckless with my life, I carry because I'm careful with my life.

Cops are only there to clean up the mess after the fact. If it comes down to it, I'd rather not be that mess.

The number of gun pictures is not representative of most people's every-day-carry (EDC) rig. People who do carry a pistol regularly are often law enforcement (who carry as part of their job), or they have need for protective weapons. There's a lot of wilderness in the US; most of the daily-carry folks I know carry a pistol in case of things like wild animals who are threatening. Some carry in cities due to having been attacked by off-leash dogs, etc.. And some people live or work in areas that are dangerous enough that they feel more comfortable with a weapon.

None of this is paranoia -- we mostly don't see guns as terribly scary or unusual things.

Knives, on the other hand, are just extraordinarily useful tools. I'm an utter pacifist, but I carry three different knives on my person because they're so dang useful. I use them to cut fruit for lunch, open packages, trim frayed laces, etc.. I once even used one to help someone pull a large splinter out of their thigh.

Darren and Levi, you don't have to justify or apologize for the EDC items, knives and guns in particular, submitted to the EDC site. Many Sheeple, like the posters here, meukr, HH and Lemurul, think that to contemplate and prepare for an inconvenient or dangerous event is in itself an act of embracing negativity. We are fortunate that for most of us, there is a low probability that we will experience a critical/dangerous event, but bad things do happen - everyday. Think of critical/dangerous events as a pride of stalking lions; remember, the slowest wildebeest are eaten first. Leave these unbelievers to themselves.
