It is pretty common in pregnant women. I have heard lots of stories of pregnant women having urges to eat dirt, ashes, and things like that. This is fucking crazy though.

Tempestt is a nursing student and she realizes how dangerous her addiction to soaps and detergents is, but that doesn’t stop her. It is all like candy to her. After 6 months of eating soap the unhappy Tempestt sought medical advice. She found out she has PICA, which is an appetite for substances that are non nutritive. Other suffers with PICA compulsively eat metal, coins, chalk, batteries, and even toothbrushes.

 

Her mom made her come home and Tempestt is on a long road to recovery and she is ready to do so one step at a time.
