Depends what your splitting, green ash and cherry along with maple split that easy. Even better when frozen.

Personally, I'll sit in my heated skid steer and split with hydraulics.

chop dry wood- easy like this.....chop it when the wood have a lot of moisture {green wood} - well it wont gonna be that easy :D
