People everywhere always thought that the end of the world could come anytime (soon), fact is that didn't happen. To me they just want to believe their age is special, unlike their ancestor's. Just like every religious people want to believe he (or his people) has a special relationship toward god or whatever he bielieves in. Why that ? because what's the point of living a regular time as a regular person ? and there you go.
