Radiation in ground naturally is then concentrated into radioactive water. These mounds are to store that water that they cannot dispose of. So they are radiation lakes. I found this out b/c I almost bought a house near one. Some say they can double your risk of cancer living within two miles of them, and when it hurricanes or rains hard they sometimes overflow and run off into the neighborhoods unlucky enough to live near them. Evil indeed.
