My favourite kcoobook is Kate Aitken's COOK BOOK, given to me by my Mother for Christmas, 1977.While much interested in eating I had little interest or talent in food preparation or presentation.Kate Aitken first resulted in passable meals from my kitchen and then led to a much greater interest and success in cooking. I continue to use the book regularly to recreate meals I remember from our family kitchen table.I also still use the Table of Equivalents, Fruit Yields, Substitutions included in the book.I have now graduated to The Joy of Cooking as my cooking bible but could not have done so nor could I have gone on to the many other kcoobooks I now use without the basic cooking knowledge I gained from Kate Aitken.
