Number of people compared to then, civil rights, disposable income. Too many factors to make an across the board comparison. How much money in marketing and advertising were spent to sell records. That would be more informative.
Can someone tell me why older a$$bags like the guy who wrote this article is telling us that the music in his generation is better than ours? Move on, douchebag. Times have changed. People aren't into that sappy crappy stuff.
Hey AssBag, If you knew how to comprehend English, you'd understand that the guy who wrote this article isn't telling anyone his generation's music is better than yours. He's simply stating that "your" generation is filled with NO TALENTS who have simply been MARKETED brilliantly!
I agree with the person above me. I'm 24, none of those bands on the right are of my generation, but I still think they're brilliant and very talented. Long after all of them have died people will still be listening to their music, it never grows old. There are good bands now, but the popular music is absolutely horrible for the most part. Just the lyrics alone are rediculous. In ten years the new generation of young people will have no clue who they are. That supposedly "sad crappy stuff" is still very much loved by many people, and they aren't all above fifty.
I prefer disco over all the shit there is around today. Population IQ on a downward slope as generations go by and taste buds in music inside their sphincter.
indeed there is the information superhighway that is the internet helping these stats along... but still.... if liking katy perry is the norm then I am not normal and don't wish to be..
