The shoes have a built-in GPS module activated when the heels are clicked together. One of the shoes shows the right direction and the other has a progress bar that indicates how far you are from your destination. The maps are uploaded to the shoes via USB, and the GPS module is powered by a cell phone battery. Its antenna is hidden in the red tag in the back of the left shoe.
