Why not? Half Moon Bay is only a hop skip and a jump from San Francisco. Depending on the tide and flow, it'd have been pushed right back in to shore.

It's less than 20 miles away to the south. Also, the letter/note did not say which direction he sailed. North towards Ocean Beach? Or South away from Ocean Beach. They drank one bottle of wine, the guy may have been right in front of the beach when he tossed his litter into the ocean. I do know the waves in that area travel in a southeast direction so he may have made it past the damn beach. Why am I so concerned about this? I don't know why! I going back under my bridge now to collect tolls.

Which makes this post sort of pointless, someone tossed a bottle in the water last Tuesday, it washed ashore 20 miles south of that and some redditor found it and posted the pictures on reddit in a 'how funny is this?' way...
