If you do, you'll be unemployed within a short period of time. Parents these days don't want their children told the truth - they want them told that they are special and that they are winners. No more choosing for teams because the kids that are bad at sports get chosen last and that hurts their feelings. In a competition, everyone gets a trophy because they are all special.
Telling 1st graders that the world is a mean place will only disillusion them (as the truth is apt to do), so keep them happy and ignorant and keep your job.

You know something, you're right. And, I've often disagreed with you several times before.
I was a teacher, and I left because I don't want to be a party to this new age of children and parents who want us to tell them their kid is special, even if they're not.

Yeah man, life sucks really, especially when you consider the stat on starvation. How lucky are we to be able to type this on a laptop, with food, shelter, and clothes on our backs? Thank your lucky stars...
