Built in South Hampton, the house is a former mortuary chapel located in the middle of a Jewish Cemetery and is surrounded by graves, dating back as far as the 1800s. The family insist that the house is not ‘spooky’ at all and has a ‘nice feeling’ about it, which is due, in part, to its complete renovation on the inside. From the outside however, the building maintains many of its former features including gargoyle statues and mullioned windows. Builder Mr Blatchford spent a year and $161,000 turning the ramshackle property into the family's dream home.
