In a routine check in the eastern province of Jiangsu, 500 cats were found starved and neglected, stuffed in bags and cages, on a truck seemingly destined for restaurants across China. The cats were most likely for sale to outlets were they would then be sold as meat. Police were shocked at the find and have since rescued the pets.
