Soon as I saw the first picture I thought "Idiots planted it too close to the driveway..."

Yup. Either it blocks half of the driveway or they've had to hack the back side of the tree to pieces. People are idiots when they plant trees...

I bet the roots have jacked up the foundation of their home and/or the basement walls and water pipes.

When Avril and Christopher Rowlands moved to the suburbs from London, they planted a 6.5 ft (2 m) Christmas tree near their new home and invited the other residents to decorate it with them. 30 years later, the tree is still standing and has grown to a height of 44.3 ft (13.5 m), making it a central feature of the community over the holiday season.
